Teaching dance in Cherry Creek Schools, includes multiple forms of instruction, assessments, differentiation in instruction, feedback for students to continue to grow in this art form in order to complete the course with a performance that students feel confident in, while keeping the content relevant and relatable to the students. Performing in the arts can facilitate growth in many areas of academic development.
Students' accessibility to dance as a physical activity provides them with a unique experience to be vulnerable in the classroom. Ensuring that classroom management and structure is established, will allow students to grow and develop out of their comfort zones, as well as create high student engagement.
As a teacher it is important to grow and learn in the dance field. Students can relate to dance if the teacher continues to stay relevant and can provide cultural humility for the dancers. Continuing to research, grow in dance knowledge and choreograph relevant material, is important for a dance teacher.
