In Cherry Creek Schools, the study of Social Studies is guided by the state standards. The Social Studies Instructional Framework provides structure for educators as they design units of study and inquiry-based learning experiences. Students in CCSD develop identities as Historians, Geographers, and Economists, with the understanding that several other disciplines including Anthropology, Psychology and Sociology have an important role within a comprehensive Social Studies program. Social Studies provides cornerstone skills that are vital to opening doors for a more diverse and innovative workforce and a more responsible citizenry.
Three components comprise the instructional framework for social studies: K-12 Essential Practices, Inquiry-Based Learning, and Literacy Practices.
